God of Light, you have called us into partnership, but we have chosen instead to go our own way. You have given us light and we have preferred to walk in the shadows. You call us to truth wh= ile we cling to our lies. We try to fool others and end up deceiving ourselves. Come to us in our confusion and sin to forgive us, we pray, and make us who= le. NEWS

Next week we welcome our new pastor to the pulp= it Rev. SanDawna Ashley.

We will be worshiping upstairs in= the sanctuary for Rev. Ashley's first service.

Summer Worship hours began at 9:3= 0 a.m. in Westminster Hall and will continue up to and including Sunday September 6^th.

The Worship and Music Committee w= ill meet today after the service. We would like deacon representation at the meeting.

"SCRIP" Sunday. Today Lois Christie & Pat Fole= y will be taking your orders, with checks, during Coffee Hour for delivery on July= 19^thand orders taken on July 26^th will be delivered on August = 2^nd. These make perfect gifts for Anniversaries and Birthdays as well as your regular groceries, drugstore, clothing and gasoline.

There will be two rehearsals on Saturday, July 18 and July 25 from 10:00 a.m= . to 12:00 noon for all children participating in the youth service on July= 26, 2009. We invite all children and youth of the church to participate w= ith their friends and relatives; however anyone participating must attend these= two rehearsal sessions. We are also seeking adult singers/choir members to join in a mixed chorus to sing the anthem. If you are willing to join= the youth for this special presentation, please see Loretta Davenport.

On Sunday, July 19 after service the Christian Education Department will sponsor a bake sale.   We need your support. Donations of cash and/or home baked goods will be gratefully accepted. Purchase a delicious dessert for your Sunday dinner. All proceeds will go toward camp fees for our campers, <= span class=3DSpellE>Tyra and Stanley Gray and Tyler McCarthy.

BUILDING COMMITTEE – Since the Trustees, = as a Board, no longer exists the attention being paid to the physical aspect of our property is lacking a little direction. We have some very dedicated people = who put in many hours to keep this building running but they could use some hel= p. So, we are forming a new ‘Building Committee’ and we are looking for volunteers. This group will assist with issues to do with= the physical building and the surrounding property and you can help in a variet= y of ways. At times that might be providing a little elbow grease to complete a = task around the building, if you are able, or it might just be walking the prope= rty and noting those items that need attention or repair. We promise we wonR= 17;t overwork you, but we can use all the help that we can get. If you are inter= ested in joining us, please see Wendy Schulenberg after the service, or call the office and give Juanita your name.

PER CAPITA – We are half-way through the = year and we are a little less than half-way to collecting our Per Capita money t= hat we must send into Presbytery (over $3,000). If you know that you have= not yet paid, just look for the special envelope that is in your box of envelop= es (remember that the Per Capita is $29.00 per each member, not each household= ). Please pay your Per Capita if you haven’t already, it’s a big h= elp to our budget if we each pay our share. Thank you.

YOUTH WORK VISIT – A group of 8-10 high s= chool students from Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis is going to be here betwee= n July 27th and July 30^th. They will be able to perform almost any kind of work task (cleaning, painting, etc.) around the church during their visit (they will be staying at McCormick Seminary). This is your first opportunity to help out the new ‘Building Committee’. We = are looking for a series of jobs for them to perform while they are here (clean= and mulch the planter on the west side, clean all of the pews, etc.). We’re looking for specific tasks and would like your input. Just drop an idea in the offering plate, see Wendy Schulenberg after the service= , or call the office and tell Juanita. We also might need some volunteers = to be around the church when the students are here so please let Wendy know if= you are available.
